Q: How do I buy a domain name?
A: Once the buyer and Keyword Acquisitions, Inc. (KAINC) agree on a price, KAINC will set up the transaction with escrow.com, which is a third-party accredited, licensed and bonded escrow service. KAINC will send a link to the buyer, which allows the buyer to establish an account with escrow.com and make payment via wire or credit card. Escrow.com holds those funds until KAINC transfers the domain name to the buyer and the buyer confirms that he/she has control and ownership of the domain name. Upon the buyer's confirmation, escrow.com will release funds to KAINC. Both parties are protected.
Q: How is the domain name transferred to my registrar?
A: Once the buyer remits payment, escrow.com will instruct KAINC to unlock the domain at the current registrar and to send the buyer the authorization codes. The buyer will then be able to initiate the transfer to any registrar. We are happy to help the buyer through this process if needed.
Q: Why do most domains fail to disclose the price?
A: The domain name aftermarket data confirms that prices increase and/or decrease daily. By analogy, placing a fixed price on a domain name is akin to placing a fixed price on a stock. Keyword Acquisitions manages 12,000 domain names so modifying the prices daily or weekly is not practical. Approximately 70% of our domain names are valued between mid $x,xxx to mid $xx,xxx.
Q: Can you recommend a registrar?
A: Godaddy.com offers the best combination of competitive prices, consistency of services, and ease of use. But you should do your own research.
Q: How long does it take to get the domain name if I buy it?
A: Usually between 1 to 7 days.
Q: How can I expedite the transfer process?
A: You can contact your registrar and determine whether it has a business relationship with the current registrar. Often times, the current registrar can manually release the domain name to the new registrar.
Q. Who pays escrow.com's transaction fees?
A: Industry standard is that the Buyer pays transactions fees. That being said, escrow.com's transaction fees are minimal. Escrow.com has a transaction fee calculator on its website, which will help you determine the transaction fee. In general, transaction fees are approximately 2.5% of the sale price.
Q: What payment methods are available at escrow.com?
A: Wire Transfer, American Express, Mastercard, Visa and Paypal for sales less than $5,001 . . . and only Wire Transfers for sales of $5,001 or greater
Q: I purchased a domain name from KAINC last year and now I want to purchase another domain name but it is listed a domain marketplace, can I still buy it directly from KAINC?
A: KAINC lists its domains with other services on a non-exclusive basis. Accordingly, buying domain names from KAINC directly will save you money because we pass along the savings on the commission payments to the Buyer. Please double check, however, that KAINC is still the listed registrant of the domain name that you are interested in purchasing. You can check registrant information using the hundreds of "whois" websites. Search Google for "whois" services.
Q: The whois shows that KAINC is registrant of the domain name but I didn't see it on the "Browse" page. Is KAINC the actual registrant?
A: Unless someone is using our Company name inappropriately, more than likely KAINC is the registrant if the whois lookup indicates as such. We do not list all of our domain names on our website. If you want to inquire about a KAINC-owned domain name that is not listed on the Browse page, then please submit a "Domain Inquiry" and identify the domain name, your name, email and telephone number.
Q: I see that you listed a domain name at a Buy It Now price of $7,888 but I also see that Name.com is listing the same domain for more than $9,000 . . . what is up with that?
A: Unfortunately, some registrars sell premium domains that are listed at other domain name marketplaces but markup the price considerably. We do not benefit from this markup and we did not authorize these registrars to markup the price. We are investigating various remedies. Let's just say . . . .you can decide whether its worth paying thousands more AND whether you're comfortable using that registrar.
Q: You discuss the transfer process using escrow.com. Are you willing to use other escrow services?
A: Yes, we also use Payoneer and Sedo's Escrow Service.
Q: Is KAINC willing to sell its entire Domain Portfolio? How much?
A: Yes, there would be a vetting process, however, or else every Tom, Dick and Harry would be inquiring without any genuine interest.
